Today was especially overwhelming. After sitting in the same position for almost six hours straight staring at budgets and specs, I dropped the pencil, shut the computer down and proceeded to KICKED MY BUTT.
I’m talking about happily paying someone a LOT of money to give me a workout I would NEVER sanely make up for myself. And why would I do this? Sure, for all the fit body reasons but nowadays mainly for one that may sometimes get overlooked: It Clears My Mind.
Somehow, somewhere in my body, there is a very strong connection between my butt and my brain. When I kick my butt and push myself beyond any physical limits I thought I had, my brain shuts all other thoughts down and simply focuses on getting my stupid butt through this stupid workout!
No more “did I plan out the next 3, 6, and 9 months right; the house is dirty; I need to weed the garden.”
All that goes out the other ear and I’m left with peace and quiet in my often times unbearably loud brain.
Have you experienced this benefit? Yes, Hollywood tells us we need to exercise to “stay in shape to hit the beach” but what are the OTHER benefits you’ve experienced from a really hard workout?
