Tadasana: Mountain Pose
One of the simplest, yet most profound and beneficial poses in Yoga.
When I started taking Yoga I was suffering from chronic lower back pain.
No matter how hard I worked my abs I still had lower back pain when I would stand for any length of time.
Then, ahh, Tadasana…
Tadasana is the beginning pose in most Sun Salutation sequences.
The secret ingredient:
Dropping the tailbone and engaging through the core to lengthen through the lower spine.
Added benefit:
At the same time it builds up even more strength through my upper back by teaching me to squeeze between my shoulder blades to open up through my chest.
This fantastic pose still creates dynamic tension through my core every time I move into it both on and off the mat, building strength and instantly relieving any lower back pain.
Take some time and take a Yoga class in your local area to reap the benefits of eliminating chronic pain due to poor posture.
What pose do you *heart*?
